We are excited to welcome you to the Spring 2022 semester.
With COVID-19 cases surging and positivity rates on the rise, we wanted to inform you that in-person courses will be held remotely on Zoom until January 30. At present, we plan to resume in-person instruction on January 31.
Your instructor will be reaching out to you with class information—including Zoom details—prior to the course start date. We encourage you to reach out to your academic department if you have any questions about your course.
As you prepare to return to the classroom later this month, please make sure you are complying with our UC COVID-19 vaccine requirements. We are following the same protocol as UC Berkeley and the University of California.
COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement
If you have received the vaccine at an off-campus vaccination site, you will need to upload a record of your vaccination and booster to the secure UC Extension Vaccine Portal as soon as you have received your last dose and have a complete vaccination card. You will receive an email from the UC Extension Vaccine Portal on how to set up your account.
You will also need to participate in surveillance testing. You will need to complete an at-home test or use other local options, and self-report the test results in the Extension Vaccine Portal. Note: You will not be able to schedule or access on-campus surveillance testing.
You will need to upload a negative surveillance test administered within 48 hours prior to accessing any building.
- If you are vaccinated, you will be required to retest and upload your negative results every 90 days or as directed.
- If you are unvaccinated and have procured an exemption, you will need to submit a negative surveillance test result every seven days.
Flu Vaccine Requirement
Effective October 8, 2021, a University of California Presidential Executive Order on a flu vaccine mandate for 2021–2022 requires you to get vaccinated against influenza. Flu vaccines are for the current flu season (August 1, 2021 or later). Read more about this policy. You will need to acknowledge that you have received a flu vaccine and the date within the Extension Vaccine Portal.
Complete the Daily Symptom Screener
Each day that you will be in our classrooms, you will need to complete a Daily Symptom Screener and show the symptom screener certificate upon arrival.
Per campus policy, masks are required indoors regardless of vaccination status.
In addition to meeting UC Berkeley requirements, if you are taking a class at a partner institution, you may need to fulfill additional requirements. Information will be sent by your instructor and/or academic department closer to the start of your course.
